The Problem?
This is a major injustice because it changes the children involved for the worse. Many become closed off and cold hearted. It puts several lives in danger and many times, children have to hurt those that they know and love in order to stay alive. These kids are taken away from their education, family, friends, and lives. They are forced to carry large arms, spy on others, and hold other military roles. This can lead to many problems such as mental and physical issues, the loss of education, and the possibility of not being able to come home to a family. Though some children go voluntarily due to economic and financial issues, more than most times, boys and girls are kidnapped. The girls are used as "wives" for the commander or personal toys for the other to rape and abuse. This is a limitation to the young ones' rights by controlling them and forcing them to do dangerous tasks for them. The effect that this has on the society is treacherous. Since many boys and girls are taken at a young age, they will not receive an education. Financial difficulties also ties into the aftermath. This has always been a problem. The military always needed or required more people, and with a lack of adults, resorted to obtaining children in order to complete the wanted amount of soldiers. Mainly, Africa is where the problem is mainly focused; however, most countries have children being recruited at this very moment. As fellow human beings, the roles are people that are victims, ones that are the encourage the use of the soldiers, ones that take the children, also known as rebels, and finally ones that work to find a permanent solution to this injustice, whether by creating a fundraiser or awareness site, or donating to the cause.
